Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral and Research Hospital (KUTRRH) is a State Corporation under the Ministry of Health, registered under Legal Notice Number 4 of the State Corporations Act Cap 446. The Hospital seeks to engage interested and qualified individuals for full-time positions on a three (3) to five (5) year performance-based renewable contract for the positions listed below. The Biomedical Engineering Department is responsible for the installation, commissioning, inspection, calibration, maintenance, repair of Medical Equipment and management of all medical Gases.
Paediatric Unit
KUTRRH pediatric unit offers timely, efficient, and effective quality patient-centered care to all the paeds. Nurse-patient ratio of 1:1 in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit & Paediatric Intensive Care Unit and a ratio of 1:5 in the paediatric medical wards.
Pediatric Surgical outpatient clinics
Pediatric Surgical Outpatient Clinic (PSOPC) is a specialized clinic conducted every Wednesday morning from 8 am- 1 pm.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
The KUTRRH neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), takes care of babies born too early, have low birth weight, or are unwell or susceptible to other medical problems.
Radiotherapy
How does radiation therapy work?
Special machines send high energy x-rays or particles to the cancer cells. This damages the genetic material within the cells so they can no longer grow and spread. Once this happens, the cancer cells die and the body naturally removes them. Normal cells can also be affected by radiation, but they are able to repair themselves in a way that cancer cells cannot.
Pediatric Surgery Services
The KUTRRH pediatric surgical unit attends to children aged 0- 12 years old. All surgeries are covered by the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF).
Uterine Fibroid Embolization
Uterine Fibroid Embolization is a procedure to shrink noncancerous tumors in the uterus called uterine fibroids. It does not use major surgery, so you may recover faster. You also may not need to stay in the hospital.
Pacemaker Implants
These are devices that are placed in your body, usually by surgery, to support the electrical system in your heart. They can stabilize abnormal heart rhythms and prevent problems that can disrupt or endanger your life.
Peripheral artery angioplasty
This is a procedure to help blood flow better. The procedure widens or opens narrowed blocked arteries, typically in the pelvis or legs. Angioplasty uses a medical “balloon” to widen blocked arteries.
Peripheral Angiography/Angiogram
This is a test that uses X-rays to help your doctor find narrowed or blocked areas in one or more of the arteries that supply blood to your legs. A catheter is guided into your arteries and a dye, visible by X-rays, is injected
Coronary Angioplasty
This is also called percutaneous coronary intervention it is done to open clogged heart arteries. Angioplasty uses a tiny balloon catheter that is inserted in a blocked blood vessel to help widen it and improve blood flow
Coronary Angiogram
A special procedure that takes dynamic x-ray pictures of your heart. The purpose of this procedure is to see if your coronary arteries are narrowed or blocked and to look for abnormalities of your heart muscle or heart valves.
Blood Donor Unit
KUTRRH blood donor unit improves patient outcomes by ensuring the availability of life-saving treatments. It has an 11-bed capacity in which 30-40 donors can donate their blood daily.
